shouldn't it be as well as for? or we can omit for here?

didn't find it on the forum, so:

Regular grooming and defleaing is necessary for short-haired cats the same as long-haired cats, because careful hygiene has more to do with the condition of a cat's skin that with the length of its hair.

a. the same as
b. as well as
c. as for
d. the same as if they were
e. as it is for

Well, on second thought B looks fine

It says grooming and defleaning (treated singular) is necessary (for both kinds of cats) for short haired as well as long haired cats, here second clause is stating the reason for having regular grooming and defleaning, irrespective of the kind of cat.

structure - X is necessary for P as well as Q, because......

Its not saying how much grooming and deflening is necessary for each of the catagories so X Necessary for P as it is for Q.... doesnt make sense.
