A looks fine.
Isn't growth indicator a noun?

Confused between E and A

E is incorrect becasue of the use of the word 'are' at the end of the modifying clause.

You need to compare the same things.

In E you have:

As X are, Y is.

To be correct it would need to be:

As X are, Y are.

The growth rate is being compared directly to performance indicators, not what performace indicators are doing.

A does this:

Like X, Y is ....

Guys OA is NOT A (I picked A and got it wrong). I got a juicy OE for this which I'll post after a little more discussion.

A,B, D - the amount of time and (the amount of ) resources ( should be number of resources).
I am stuck between C and E.
I will go with E. (60% sure)

Man! thought I can handle these 'as' and 'like' questions...but looks like need to brush up again.

I completely missed the amount/number issue. But now I'm completely confused :? if were left with C and E.

'Like' is used to comare two Nouns and 'As' is used to compare two clauses (phrase that includes a verb)

Knowing this I would have to say E.

e As other performance indicators are, the growth rate of a start-up business is generally related to the amount of time and number of

I believe the use of the word 'are' makes this a clause and therefore 'as' not 'like' is needed.

In other words:

The growth rate is related to ...,as other performance indicators are.

I would love any comments to help me clarify my thought process!

I choose E

Betwen E and C, E is better because "Like" is used to compare noun with noun. C has the word "are" in the first phrase, meaning that "like" should no longer be used.

If there is not "ARE" in E, I choose E, I did not choose E b/c "are" is redundancy.!

If not A, it is E
Thanks for previous posters that pointed out "amount" - I completely missed it.

OA is E

While “like” correctly compares the two nouns “indicators” and “growth rate,” “amount of” incorrectly modifies the countable noun “resources.” “Amount of” is applied to both components of the compound noun: “amount of time and (amount of) resources.” “Amount of” can be used to modify uncountable nouns, such as “time,” but not countable nouns, such as “resources.” “Number of” should be used to modify countable nouns.

(A) This choice is incorrect as it repeats the original sentence.

(B) “Amount of” incorrectly modifies the countable noun “resources.” “Amount of” is applied to both components of the compound noun: “amount of time and (amount of) resources.” “Amount of” can be used to modify uncountable nouns, such as “time,” but not countable nouns, such as “resources.” “Number of” should be used to modify countable nouns. Further, “just like” is unnecessarily wordy. The more concise “like” is preferred.

(C) While “number of” correctly modifies the countable noun “resources,” “like” incorrectly compares two verb phrases: “like other…indicators are, the growth rate…is.” “Like” can be used to compare nouns, but not verb phrases. “As” should be used to compare verb phrases.

(D) “As” is correctly used to compare two verb phrases: "as other...indicators are, the growth rate...is." However, “amount of” incorrectly modifies the countable noun “resources.” “Amount of” is applied to both components of the compound noun: “amount of time and (amount of) resources.” “Amount of” can be used to modify uncountable nouns, such as “time,” but not countable nouns, such as “resources.” “Number of” should be used to modify countable nouns.

(E) CORRECT. “As” correctly compares two verb phrases: “as other…indicators are, the growth rate…is.” Further, “number of” correctly modifies the countable noun “resources.”
