gah ... well, i chose E because you need 'exceed' instead of 'exceeds' to agree with the plural subject 'temperature fluctuations' ... I dont know if E fully does it for me though :(

why continuous...??

Among all the options E looks best .The effects is plural and require plural verb exceed .

A,B,C are wrong because they use "exceeds", so theres no subject verb agreement

Those is D is ambiguous

So E by POE

Look at of the middleman

the subject is effects, which is plural and needs a plural verb exceed

A,B,C are out

Between D & E, D uses past perfect. If past perfect were to be used, there needs to be another event in simple past. There is no such event in the sentence and D is wrong

E remains and is clear.
