IMO except B all has either they or their as ambiguous. That leaves B as the answer.

rather than vs instead of.
instead of shows "replacement" - I will have tea INSTEAD of coffee. Usually used for "trading" things.
rather than shows preference or in this case comparison - "The Wings are round rather than square" OR "attached to the cartlidge rather than the wrist"
Thats just my thinking - what say?
