Going with C.

You need "remains" because it's 1 "market".

And I would go with "such as" since aluminum is a specific example of such a market. If you say "like aluminum" then you are saying a market similar to aluminum but not aluminum itself.

I wouldn't be 100% sure of this since they could be talking about some aluminum-like market, so the fact that C is the only non-stupid choice with "remains", I'm quite confident that C is correct.

We want to say commodities which include aluminum, so we should use “such as” instead of “like”, so

A. commodities like aluminum and other metals remain
= OUT

B. commodities like those of aluminum and other metals are remaining
= OUT

E. commodities, like the commodities of aluminum and other metals, remains
= OUT

D. commodities, such as aluminum and other metals, remain
= OUT – because “market” is singular, we need a singular verb “ remain”

C. commodities such as aluminum and other metals remains
= CORRECT

Its either C or E. C sounds better and is not awkward like E. 
But in C , there are no commas after commodities and metals .so it not sure if the sentence says..

The market for recycled commodities such as aluminum  and  other metals  remains or 
The market for recycled commodities such as  aluminum  and  other metals

Not sure if this is the reason for C not being the answer..but I can see only this much.

Although I have initially mentiond C is the answer, E can be the only other alternative .

As in C "The market for recycled commodities such as aluminum "
Aluminium may not be taken as a commodity

In E it is clearly mentioned commodities made of aluminium...

But this is a confusing question, as C is more concise, uses the correct tense, and also uses such as for giving examples, and on test date , I like most students would select C...

I picked C as well, but I can see why E would make sense.

"As" is used to compare actions (verb). "Like" is used to compare objects.

In this sentence, we're comparing commodity markets, so like would be appropriate.

ok after going through the post i believe if C is wrong OA must be commodities are not metals .These are commodities made of some metals

like the in E compares comodities with metal commodities
whereas such as in (C) compares the commodities with metals which is incorrect comparison
