D.the surface broke apart with repeated impacts, after which the fragments having rejoined through. ->running sentence
E.the surface broke apart as a result of repeated impacts , after which the fragments rejoined through. -> eliminate since rejoined through force is not correct,rejoined by force or because of force is correct

Are choices A and B "passive"?

im muddled between A and E
somehow through does not click hence A is the choice with subsequently playing its role .

I would go E.

A. don't need "and" / "the fragments were subsequently rejoined" is passive
B. "having rejoined" is wrong
C. don't even know where to begin...
D. "having rejoined" is wrong
E. clear, concise, and grammatically correct

I go for E.
the surface broke apart as a result of repeated impacts , after which the fragments rejoined through

"after which' modifies "impacts", so it needs to be close to "impacts"

A is passive. In B and "having rejoined" is wrong, and C is ugly and wrong. Is E
