subject = subtle differences
verb = help


"help + bare infinitive" is correct but not "help + (verb+ing)".

E is passive as well.

This is confusing one!

Eliminate middleman construction – from in…. listener. This is because the preposition “in” adds the information about “how the listener listen the sound”.

In human hearing, subtle differences … determine the qualities of that sound.

With this only A and C survives

Eliminate C: Passive

Answer: A

It should be C. In A it verb is help but we req. helps

OA is A.

Subtle differences implies that qty of diff can be > 2. Therefore Between cant be used. Eliminate D and E.

"...two ears hearing.." is awkward construction , eliminate B.

Between A & C, C has passive voice and SVA problem (subtle diffs-helps), therefore eliminate C.
