I WOULD PICK  D ..BECAUSE A ,TO ME IMPLIES THAT THE DICTIONARY WAS BORN EVEN BEFORE THE LAUNCH,AS IN,IT WAS THE FIRST STEP,WHICH IS WRONG.

eliminate A, C, D because "would" describes the possibilities in past whereas the fact is described that Project took 60 years to complete. Between B and E, B is more clear than E.

I think is B. It is more clear than E. A,C and D are wrong becuase of "would". It could be ok in an If...than clause, but not here.

Launched is simple past tense.... so to keep the sentence correct, we need "took".... and "was"

First thing is that it cannot be would take since the second sentence is indeopendent clause and hence needs to be in past tence since we are taking about some past event in present time,If the second statement
were said by some person of past time then it vwould have been WOULD and again oxford dictionary WAS born is correctly in past tence 
All events are in past ,also since the project got completed no need to use would take ,aftr its completion dictionary was born ,hence HAD been is incorrect since dictionary found only once

Easy B

Event occued in the past. It has to be between B or E.

Now, check out the use of word although. These are key words. It is to state an anomaly. Even though it took soo long to complete, it nonetheless led the the birth of the dictionary

I have a question about this though.

The answer says "although it would take 60 years to complete, the dictionary was born."

I thought that the dictionary would "be born" after it has been completed, not when the project started. Any thoughts?

HERE IT GOES..

BASICALLY,A THIRD PERSON IS NARRATING IT...HE SAYS THAT THE SOCIETY LAUNCHED ITS EFFORT TO CREATE A DICTIONARY .ALTHOUGH IT WOULD STILL TAKE 60 YEARS..BUT THE DICTIONARY WAS BORN.. (NOT PHYSICALLY YET) ...BUT IN THE MINDS OF THE PEOPLE

IT'S SAME AS SAYING.."WHEN RATAN TATA MADE AN OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT THAT HE WILL MAKE A $2500 CAR..ALTHOUGH THE PROJECT WOULD TAKE A YEAR ,TATA NANO WAS BORN
