"borrowing from Asia some aspects of mystical practice" is a modifier in this sentence.
You could rephrase:
Symeon collected texts describing existing traditions and relayed them to his readers in a tone of great devotion and authority. He did this by borrowing from Asia some aspects of mystical practice.

I'd pick C. To simplify the sentence, I reconstructed it as follows with Choice C:
As part of a unified scholarly approach, Symeon, collected texts describing existing traditions and relayed the texts to his readers in a tone of great devotion and authority along with the aspects of mystical practice he borrowed from Asia.
As far as I am concerned, the sentence conveys that Symeon not only collected and relayed the texts, but also relayed some aspects of a mystical practice he borrowed from Asia.
As part of a unified scholarly approach, Symeon, collected texts describing existing traditions and relayed the texts to his readers in a tone of great devotion and authority along with the aspects of mystical practice he borrowed from Asia.
As far as I am concerned, the sentence conveys that Symeon not only collected and relayed the texts, but also relayed some aspects of a mystical practice he borrowed from Asia.
