Recent findings lend strong support to the theory that a black hole lies at the center of
the Milky Way and of
many of the 100 billion other galaxies estimated to exist in the
universe.
A. that a black hole lies at the center of the Milky Way and of
B. that a black hole lies at the Milky Way’s center and
C. that there is a black hole lying at the Milky Way’s center and
D. of a black hole lying at the Milky Way’s center and
E. of a black hole that lies at the center of the Milky Way and of

OA A

I hate the SC questions that involve logical meaning to get the right answer.

A is right here because of logical meaning and parallelism.

What A essentially says is that black hole lies at the center of milky way and it lies at the center of many other galaxies in the universe.

A seems correct because it preserves the context of the question. There is a black hole that lies at the center of the milky way and in the center of each of the other galaxies. Only A is indicative of that fact even though A does not seem grammatically correct. To be correct, the language should have been: " ......and that of millions of galaxies.....".
However, of all the choices, A seems relatively correct.

I am still confused between A and E ...
Looks like A could be a obvious choice unless and untill we can find a fault in it.

A. that a black hole lies at the center of the Milky Way and of
E. of a black hole that lies at the center of the Milky Way and of

see the word "that" changes the meaning(focus) of the sentence

Initially chose E, but stop at A!
"that..." clause should modify "theory", as it does in A. E is changing the meaning.

When there is "the theory", "that" should follow it. So A and B remain.

Now between A and B, A is parallel while B is not.

So A should be correct..

Thinking words such as belief, theory, believe etc must always be followed by "that". so Dand E are out.to maintain parallelism if the theory was about black hole and many of the glaxies then it would have looked like this:
that a black hole lies at the Milky Way’s center and that
So B and C are also out.
In fact here ther theory is abt black hole which exists at the center of milky way and (center) of many of the 100 billion other galaxies. So A is absolutely right.

I choose E, as for A, "estimated to exist in the universe." is not clear whether to modify the black hole or galaxies

lylya4, as ritula wrote earlier, GMAT follows the following rule, so on GMAT "theory of" is almost always wrong.

IMO A....the theory should followed by "that" and due to ||ism, I agree with A.
