Should be A. The closest answers are A and E but E is in passive, not the most concise and logical because it says "The battle of Leipzig" was the largest conflict in the napoleonic wars in 1813.
Was "The battle of Leipzig" was the largest conflict in the entire napoleonic wars in 1813" or "The battle of Leipzig" was the largest conflict in the entire napoleonic wars"? For me, the later makes more sense.
D is even not considered a close to A or E because it has many flaws.
* "1813 saw"? it could be a informal english but not an official in terms of gmat english. * "which" refers to what? "the battle of leipzig" or "the napoleonic wars" - not clear. * the construction is also awakward.

While I agree that A is better than E, I dont think E is passive voice. E is simply past tense.
The battle of X was a conflict between Y and Z is not passive voice.

I see nothing wrong in E. See the highlighted green w/o the descriptive clause. Subtle : the battle is described as the largest conflict....
In A: The 6th coalition attacked X and Y in the the battle, <decriptive>
