D - is wordy but if you see closely...
trees cannot use conditions to grow.. but conditions can enable the trees to grow.

IMO D....Coditions is plural and entire sentence using simple present tense, so we need to use enble. Also Conditions should be followed by 'that' therefore D.

We are talking about a specific point in time when all the mentioned conditions happen together.

So no need for continuous tense.

I think a real alternative to D is A. If one insert "the" before "trees", A and D will mean exactly the same things.
