Many leaders of underdeveloped nations are displaying poor judgment to so high a level as to render them obsolete in a geo-political world increasingly favoring leaders who can lead astutely and effectively rather than by sheer force.

(A) are displaying poor judgment to so high a level as to render them obsolete in a geo-political world increasingly favoring
(B) are displaying such poor judgment as to render themselves obsolete in a geo-political world that increasingly favors
(C) are displaying such poor judgment as to render themselves obsolete in a geo-political world increasingly favoring
(D) display so high a level of poor judgment that they will be rendered obsolete in a geo-political world that is increasingly favoring
(E) display such poor judgment as to be rendered obsolete in a geo-political world that increasingly favors

Clearly A & D have pronoun ambiguity. They cant be correct.

This is about a present continuous condition as narrated by the author of the sentence. I initially picked E but switching to C now.

a & d out due to pronoun ambiguity.

I initially considered B as it keeps the future tense consistent with favors but E sounds fine and there is no chance of pronoun ambiguity with E.

E - and now thinking of it - "display such poor" is consitent with " who can lead astutely".

OA pls.

does it mean that "as to" can't stand on its own?

I feel it has to be one out of B or C, I am not sure about which is idiomatically correct but I feel B should be the answer.
