The answer has to be D in my opinion.

A. Ruled out - like
B. Ruled out - like
C. Ruled out - as are
D. Correct
E. Ruled out - as

The correct usage should contain : "as much ..... as" and "such as"

such as X, Y and even Z.

'are' is not needed

definiteky D
A and B are out bcos such as should be used for giving example. like is used while making comparisons. E is wrong bcos correct usage is "as much in ....as in". so use of than is wrong. That leaves C and D. in c, the use of are is wrong bcos petrolium exists.....(singular). D is the best
