In E, is the use of "antedated" changes the tense of the sentense from present to past? Pleas explain some one...

IMO (c)

The problem with (e) is --> antedate the invention of first alphabets [Should invention not automatically signal first alphabets, do some languages have first, second, third alphabets etc?]

The earliest texts in cuneiform script are about 5,000 years old, having antedated the use of the fist alphabets by some 1500 years.

1. old, having antedated the use
2. old, having antedated the invention
3. old, antedating the use
4. old and antedated the use
5. old and antedated the invention

what is wrong with C and why E is correct??

I think you are listing two different things here so you need a 'and', you need a verb as well so D and E fit.

I might have picked D but as you said, E is the answer.
