Studies - Plural subject needs to be "have" than "has". So elimanate A and C
Among B ,D and E. i go for D.
i prefer "how" to "whether" and interesting results is more idiomatic than " results of interest"
whether changes the meaning -- we are looking at how particles interact not if they interact. after this, just look for "have" and parallelism between two clauses in the last two sentences, which yields D.
