B contains pronoun error. "they will hit..........."
C every time and they note...........................having been. Tense not correct.
D & E change the meaning of the origina l sentence.

I too picked A but OA is E. The question is from peterson CAT. The first option i eliminated was E

I still dont feel E is correct. it sounds awful.

I vote for 'E'.

It states:- "Students can experience the physical fact of gravity every time..."
Now, why do we have to add ' they note ' here?
doesn't it sound more logical that "...every time they drop a very heavy stone and a very light stone and (then)  note that  the stones hit the floor at the same moment '.

I think 'they' is necessary here for clarity purpose. 'they' after every time makes clear that the students are doing the noting.
This is my opinion.

yes.. that is right that 'they' would make better sense, but even if you don't use it.. you would see that the sentence looks alright.

I too was in for A but I was not sure why they used commans to seperate the verb 'dropped'. I think probably something wrong with having a comma before 'dropped', isn't it?

well, I am very clear that 'E' is the right option. Let me see if I can explain it.

The statement goes " Students can experience the physical fact of gravity every time..."
In 'A' it say-  ...they note that a very heavy stone and a very light stone, dropped, hit the floor at the same moment" .. now, what we are actually talking about is the 'experience of gravity' and it should immediately follow. The experience here is that when a heavy and a light stone is dropped, it would hit the floor at the same time.

If I paraphrase, the sentence conveys that " students experience the physical facts of gravity every time they drop a heavy and light stone and note..." So noting the time would come after dropping and the sentence should also be framed in the same way...

Man..!! I don't know if that helps.. but I tried my best.. sorry guys.

I agree. This question looks really retarded. If you can do well on all the other question types, then missing this type of question wouldn't hurt you at all. so just forget about it.

This question is from peterson CAT. Based on discussion with and response of some of the forum members i came to a conclusion that there are lots of error in Peterson GMAT CAT's. (Also,Their explanations are v bad.) So, I decided not to take peterson CAT's and uninstalled the application and so, deleted all the OE's and OA's.

I agree with u guys this question should not be considered.

good move. I've never touched Peterson for my preparation because I found their questions completely stupid and irrelevant to the quality of the actual GMAT. Consider at least Princeton Review, or the Manhattan GMAT, which is much much better.
