Like should be followed by a noun or pronoun.
Choice E correctly compares Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, and john Dennis. For choice A to be correct, Like should be replaced by As

If it's like, as was already said, the noun or pronoun should follow. If it's clause, then there should be "as".
