Hi guys, please your help with the following question:
Unlike the Oscar, which is given for achievement in motion-picture production or performance, a person receives the Grammy award for achievement in musical production or performance.
a) a person receives the Grammy award for achievement in musical production or performance.
b) a person's achievement in musical production or performance receives the Grammy award.
c) the Grammy is awarded to a person's achievement in musical production or performance.
d) the Grammy is awarded to a person who has had achievement in musical production or performance.
e) the Grammy is awarded for achievement in musical production or performance by a musician.
The answer is D. I agree that you have to compare the Oscar with the Grammy because both are things, but why not E? Based on the rules of parallelism, option E looks like better. If you check the first part of the sentence, "Unlike the Oscar, which is given for achievement in..." is parallel with option E, "the Grammy is awarded for achievemment in".

E does not have the same meaning as D. The original sentence says "a person receives the Grammy" This means that you need to have something in the answer about a person, and E doesn't have that, but D does.

Notice that OR splits the two phrases and hence the intended meaning is not conveyed.
