I am native speaker who is struggling with SC. I have been studying for the GMAT now for 3 months and a recurring theme in my studies is that the more I study the worse I do, especially in SC. Back in June I took a MGMAT CAT had an 80% hit rate in SC, now after going the MGMAT SC book, making and revieing flashcards, and going through the OG (11,12) I am doing worse than when I first started. When I first began I would mostly go by ear, now I try to break down a sentence and look for specific errors (parallelism, agreement, pronouns) and it takes me longer than before and I am getting more wrong. I believe my OG11 hit rate was around 70%, I have reviewed my weak areas in MGMAT and did the corresponding problems that I got incorrect or guessed on in the OG. I am now in the process of going through all my errors a second time. I am really getting frustrated because I have seen no improvement at all in my SC, and this is my key to breaking a 42 in verbal. In my last two CAT I have had around an 80% hit rate in RC and CR and a measley 45-50% in SC. I need this so bad. Any advice to get me over this hump would be awesome.
