Anyone have any insight when to use the clause "so as to" in sentence correction.

Ive seen it in a couple questions and am quite confused on when it is appropriate.

Thanks.

So as to or So x as to y are never acceptable usages on GMAT. This is coming straight from OG.

Multiple places in OG 12th edition, where OG is not gung-ho about 'so as to'. Q 39 (Anne Boleyn) and Q 65 (Army Corps of Engineers) are cases in point.
