I believe the answer is C. The term evidence should have been followed by 'OF'. either evidence of the fact that north indians developed... or evidence of development of calendar by north indians...
between B, C and D, the phrase evidence of north american indians makes B and D absurd. The evidence is of development of calendar and not of north american indians.
Hence C.
