First off, thank you, Maria for creating ApplicantLab. It has been the one saving grace for me across a really hasty and somewhat rushed MBA application season. The structure and the way information is accessed makes it very easy for last moment applicants like myself to write impactful essays in a short amount of time. I have probably marketed the lab enough among my friends and college circles to deserve some official position in your company, but more on that later (:p)
I am Pratyush Pandey, a Senior UG in IIT Delhi. I am applying for deferred MBA programs across M7 B-Schools in the US. Below is a bit about me and my profile. Do let me know if I can add anything here for a better/more well-rounded review of my profile. Thanks!
1. Demographics: Indian Male Engineer (Sigh)
2. Education: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. GPA: 8.3/10. Major: Electrical Engineering. Minor: Computer Science.
3. GRE: 328/340 (V:160, A:168, W: 5.0)
4. Work experience: All Internships, with durations 2-6 months, all done during college
- Microsoft India. Role: Software Developer (Internship)
- Bending Spoons. Role: Software Developer (Internship). Location: Milan, Italy. [One of the top app startups in Europe]
- Covered By Sage. Role: Software Developer (Internship). Location: Atlanta, GA (Remote due to COVID). [Fastest growing insurance start-up in US]
- SUTD. Role: Research in CS (Internship). Location: Singapore
- Siemens AG. Role: ML Engineer (Internship). Location: Mumbai India
5. ECAs
- Social Work across Education and Road Safety
- Chief Editor at College's student-run newsroom
- Debating club representative and coach with international achievements
6. Post MBA Goals:
I want to transition to a Tech Product Manager role in the medium term in top tech firms (Google/Microsoft/Amazon). I also want to startup in the cloud tech and education space but I wonder if I should mention that in my post career goals.
7. Target Schools: MIT, HBS, Columbia, Kellogg, Haas, Darden (2+2 programs)
8. Other Information:
- I have job offers from Microsoft and Google post my UG degree completion (though I still haven't decided among the two)
9. Specific Questions:
- I haven't taken the GMAT yet - should I?
- Given my background and a broad career vision, what can I do to strengthen my application to the adcoms and what issues do I need to work on/justify?
