Hey gang, first time here. Be patient with me please.
My story - I'm 29, Marketing BA in Lisbon, Portugal. I have been thinking seriously about an MBA for 6 months now.
I have been speaking with the Admissions Office of the LisbonMBA, a joint MBA by Nova and Catolica - the Unis with the highest reputation in business here.
The full time offers a year of intensive work plus 1 month at MIT Sloan. The PT takes a couple years' time, comes with an International trip and the chance of a double degree - MA in whatever route I take be it Finance, Marketing or something else.
I am stagnated in the same position for about 4 years just routating from department to department in my workplace. No real chance of getting a promotion since all vacations are taken already. the company I work for is called Totemic, they deal with Debt Management and insolvency solutions. No big deal and after 3 months I had nothing new to learn here.
BNP Paribas have offices in Lisbon and they are recruiting so that may be may next job move after this.
My question is should I take the FT or the PT? Does it make a difference to even take an MBA now?
I have never had a management job. I have 8 years experience in Graphic Design (self thaught) plus 4 years in the current position).

Hey ruiferro! Welcome to the forum!
I can understand your position and for many of us, we can relate. I don't think it's ever to late to look for further education. As long as we're alive and mentally capable, we should continue to learn something new!
The FT you are referring to looks like a relatively accelerated program (compared to the 2 year programs in the US). I guess you have to ask yourself if getting an MBA is worth the opportunity cost of being out of the workforce for 13 months minimum plus the cost of tuition and travel to MIT Sloan. If it is and you think it'll payoff in the long run, then go ahead. It's a once in a lifetime experience.
If you think you can get your employer to help pay for the tuition and that you can reach the management position while in the PT program, then go for that. From my understanding, a lot of PT MBA students get assistance from their employer and because of this assistance, they can get promotions while still completing their degree which helps them deal with the longer length. It depends on the employer and your performance. The difficult thing about doing PT though is that you can miss out on some of the extracurriculars available to FT students and you end up being very busy juggling work and school for a long period of time. Although, you don't have to leave the workforce and many times the overall cost of the MBA will be cheaper. It's a tradeoff you need to decide on yourself.
I think if you end up taking the job with BNP Paribas, you should talk to them about your desire to move into management and that you were thinking about an MBA. They may have an MBA sponsorship program or they may even say that an MBA may not be required for the management positions you're looking for! However if your plan is to obtain that higher level position now, then the FT may be the better option. It's up to you and what you're looking to do!

If you want to change company change industry I would say do Full Time. MBA is really about the networking and the experience and PT takes that away. They only time I would consider PT is I know I need an MBA to get a promotion that is waiting in the same company and they are wiling to provide financial aid.
