Hi, I am a senior looking at deferred mba programs and was wondering if I
should make an attempt for it based on my stats so far. It will take a lot
of effort to study for the GRE and prepare for apps so if I don't even have a shot
based off my profile, I'd rather just pass and not waste my time.
Stats
School: No name state school in the US
Major: Mathematics
GMAT/GRE Score - yet to take
Undergrad GPA: 3.6+, 1 semester left before graduation
Race/nationality: Asian, international student
Sex: Male
Work Experience
Foreign Military - resource manager (10 months)
- other roles such as trainee and resource assistant (1 year +)
Did school online temporarily while in military, about 1.5-2 semesters worth.
ECs
Trilingual- English as first language and 2 other languages
volunteer/professional experience in construction industry - 2 years
(helped with analyzing various exit strategies for the company)
Upcoming ECs
volunteer to help international students learn different languages/english
Undergraduate research in Math.
Goal of MBA:
equity research analyst perhaps in construction industry.

GSB Deferred Enrollment
Wharton Advance Access

Hi beautifulant , thanks for reaching out to Stratus! I'd be happy to answer your question about deferred enrollment. Your profile has some strong points - solid GPA, veteran background, and plenty of international experience. The 'no name school' and not being an underrepresented minority don't necessarily help your case. That being said, I'd certainly encourage you to apply to Emory as a potential target school. If you were pulling together apps regardless, you could also try for a couple reach programs like Booth or Wharton, which have strong finance programs and veteran contingents. But it would definitely be a stretch.

And Suraj0184 - Yes, it's guaranteed admission. Deferred enrollment MBA programs guarantee undergrad seniors an eventual spot in their MBA programs, allowing them to enroll two to five years after they graduate from college and focus on their work experience in the meantime.
