I apologize if this was addressed elsewhere, I did some searches and read through some of the larger threads and didnt find anything.
I feel I have pretty reasonable chances of getting accepted into INSEAD and I really like the setting, international focus, and language requirements but my biggest concern is the length of the program.
Starting in September the program start to finish is 10.5 months, starting in January you have the opportunity to pursue an internship over the summer completing the program in about 12 months.
I have studied Mandarin Chinese for almost a decade and lived in China for about 5 years working in various areas related to import/export, logistics, and manufacturing but my academic and professional background in finance, econ, and other more traditional subjects relevant to an MBA is somewhat underdeveloped. My biggest concern is that the program will fly by and I wont feel like I have the experience or professional knowledge to succeed in the job market after graduation (ideally I will be in China-oriented consulting).
The benefit of this type of program is obvious; you dont waste time in school when you could be getting hands-on-experience (and a paycheck). I know INSEAD is not the only school to offer short programs, but it is the only school I am considering with a program this short.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

It seems to me that the MBA program with the most CEO's after hbs, 50.000 very accomplished alumni and a very high regard for the people who hire at companies can prepare you well enough for a successful career. In a very intense year you will develop every tool you need, at least in my opinion. Days at INSEAD are longer, no Fridays off, and you will acquire the same skillset that you would at any top 2 year program.
I would focus my doubt wether INSEAD is the right fit for you rather than if you'll be in disadvantage vs a 2 year program because you won't. IMO.
The INSEAD MBA program does fly fast, but you do get key takeaways from class discussions, group projects, and overall experiences, which benefits you post-MBA.
Developing the hard skills would depend on your ability or desire to put in the time to focus on these. Alternatively, some would focus on specific knowledge they want to develop more and spend more time on those they know will be useful post-MBA.
In your case, if you have identified China-oriented consulting then you would do well to invest more time and effort on international business management and the relevant skills needed.
