Hi all,
I am planning on going for ISB PGP as a 2020 intake. I joined a leading bank as a software engineer, right after graduation, in August 2017. Hence, I have the option of applying for the early entry option in 2018 or as a regular applicant in 2019. I was hoping to get some insights from all the experts here at gmatclub. Here's a pros and cons list that I prepared :
EEO
Pros:
- Less competition
- Adcoms focus more on Academics (I have a good academic record and GMAT score)
Cons:
- The deadline is in two weeks
Regular Application
Pros:
- I will have more to talk about in my applications
- More time to hone my essays
Cons:
- More competition with mature and experienced people
What do you guys think?

Thanks for posting. Our advice:
- This depends on what you expect the next 9-10 months at work to bring for you. Although this is difficult to exactly predict, but you would have an idea - do you expect a short-term onsite opportunity / a move to a more business facing role / some leadership responsibility / some outstanding project? If that is expected, you may weight it according to what new it is expected to bring and may decide to wait till next year.
- If not, you may consider applying now. Just 9-10 months of more experience (without significantly greater accomplishments) will not matter much. For preparing essays etc, 12 days from now is a possibility.
- In terms of competition, well, its difficult to say that regular PGP vs EEO is more (or less) competitive. True, there are more applicants for the regular PGP admissions route, but then the number of people they admit for EEO is also much smaller compared to the overall cohort for the regular PGP. Therefore, don't worry so much about these things and plan to put in your app when you feel it will be strongest. An app that is strong for the EEO will not be weak for regular PGP admissions.

My 2 cents
No one answer the question better than you yourself.
EEO
Although I am not conversant with the EEO Application process but 2 weeks seems a little less to prepare for applications. Academics might make up a significant portion of the application but other aspects like Leadership qualities, ECA, etc etc
Also, Since you are from the most competitive IT Pool, you might have a hard time explaining the transitioning from you current role to you post-MBA role.
Regular Applications
You will get more time to work on your profile and application.
You can work on developing your profile.
As far as competition is concerned, ISB tries to pool applicants with similar amount of Work-Experience and keep a healthy mix in terms of Work Expeirence.
If you think, given more time, you can develop your profile, my opinion for you would be to apply in the regular round!
And to judge, you can post your detailed profile on the master profile evaluation thread for ISB, professionals can guide you in a better way!
