Is Submitting My Columbia Application in June/July Too Early?
Columbia has already released its 2019-2020 essay questions. Whether you are applying to Columbia’s full-time MBA program in the January-start, Early Decision (August-start) or Regular Decision (August-start) pools, you can submit your application soon. This has left many candidates wondering whether June or July is too soon to submit their application to Columbia GSB. We at MBA Admit.com can state that, just as in recent past years, an early submission can pay great dividends.
Because Columbia GSB operates with rolling admissions (CBS reviews applications as they are submitted, rather than waiting for set deadline dates), the earlier you apply, the more seats will still be available and, thus, the better your odds will be of securing one of those MBA seats. In light of this, submitting your application in June or July may be to your great advantage.
Even better, when you submit early, you will likely hear your outcome within 2-6 weeks. If you submit in June, you could learn in July or August whether you have gained admission. That would be before most of the Round 1 deadlines for other schools. For many candidates, that would give great peace of mind.
If you have a weakness in your candidacy or if you are an over-represented candidate, applying early to Columbia GSB may be to your advantage.

There is no such thing as submitting too early. As stated by others, CBS uses rolling admissions - meaning the earlier you submit, the better your chances.
However - it is important to be ready to submit. There is a trade-off. If you think something will change in the coming month or two (e.g. you are awaiting a promotion) than by all means wait. However, if your application is ready and nothing is likely to change - go ahead and send it in. Early submission can only help you.
