A fantasy convention is trying to plan entertainment for a two-day festival, in which it will highlight a number of artistry types. Ten performers will be featured each day on two stages. On the first day, the focus is on music, so at least 70% of the first day's performers must be musicians. On the second day, preference is being given to artistic troupes, so no more than three performers can perform individually. Neither day should have more than two performers who are demonstrating the same talent. Departmental members have agreed on a schedule of eight performers each day. Official Explanation

The correct answers are Pipers and Drums on either day and James the Small on neither day.

To work for either day, the entertainment must involve multiple people and be a musical act. Only Pipers and Drums is a musical act with multiple group members.

To work for neither day, the act must be a solo act that does not include music. Only James the Small is a solo act with no musical element.

i could not understand where its mentioned that a duo cant be there for neither day and why cant solo performances be there for either day? could you please explain that.

It is written in the question statement. "Neither day should have more than two performers who are demonstrating the same talent. Departmental members have agreed on a schedule of eight performers each day."

- At least 70% must be musicians => maximum 3 non-music performances
- There are already 3 non music performances (No. 2, 3 and 8)
==> The remaining 2 must be music

On D2
- At most 3 perfomers performing individually
- There are already 3 individual performers (No. 2, 5, and 8)
==> The remaining must be a group of at least 2

Either: must be   +  
==> Pipers and Drums (bagpipes and drums duo)

Neither: must be   +  
==> James the Small (child juggler)

It took me around 4 minutes to get to the answer. 
I am aware the questions of this category requires high level of concentration. 
Is there any way to reduce the time on them ?

Apply each given rule and try to eliminate options.

On the first day, the focus is on music, so at least 70% of the first day's performers must be musicians. 
  
 Check first day. We already have 3 non music performances. This means first day leftover performances must be music based.

On the second day, preference is being given to artistic troupes, so no more than three performers can perform individually.

Check second day. There are already 3 solo performances. So second day leftover performances must be groups.

So the performance that can be added to both days must be a music group performance. There is only one such option -  pipers and drums duo.

Those that cannot be selected for either day would be non music solo performances. There is one such performance - J    ames the Small (child juggler).

Rest all are either groups or music related. So they can be selected for one of the days, not both  
 The condition - Neither day should have more than two performers who are demonstrating the same talent - is irrelevant here. It could have helped us in arriving at one answer had the other rules given us multiple possible options.
