A historical audio archive is digitizing a collection of fragile recordings. For the current project, the archive has been allotted a fixed amount of storage capacity distributed across several servers. At present, each newly digitized recording is stored as a single master file. A preservation specialist recommends instead storing two identical master files of every newly digitized recording, with the two copies kept on different servers. For an archive that currently keeps only one master file of each recording and would not otherwise create duplicate copies, adopting the specialist’s recommendation involves a cost and is intended to provide a benefit. In the table, select Cost for what would be reduced as a result of adopting the recommendation, and select Benefit for what would be increased. Make only two selections, one in each column.
