A health study records each participant’s systolic blood pressure at 6:00 p.m. every day from January 1 through January 31. The study uses its own scoring system, which is not intended as a clinical guideline. Each daily reading is assigned risk points as follows:
• Below 130: 0 points • 130 to 139: 1 point • 140 to 159: 2 points • 160 or higher: 3 points
If a participant completes at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise after the 6:00 p.m. measurement and before the end of that day, 1 point is subtracted from that day’s score. A daily score cannot be reduced below 0. Exercise completed on a later day cannot change an earlier day’s score.
The study requires a Follow-Up if a participant accumulates at least 6 risk points during any 7 consecutive calendar days and a Priority Follow-Up if a participant accumulates at least 8 risk points during any 7 consecutive calendar days.
The table describes the relevant records of five participants during January. Assume that all blood-pressure readings not mentioned were below 130 and that no other qualifying exercise occurred.
In the table, select Follow-Up only for the participant who qualified for a Follow-Up but not a Priority Follow-Up, and select Priority Follow-Up for the participant who qualified for a Priority Follow-Up. Make only two selections, one in each column.
