For the "All items" category (indicated by the solid arrow above), the changes from month to month for March 2010 to September 2010 were 0.1, – 0.1, – 0.2, – 0.1, 0.3, 0.3, and 0.1 while for the "All items less food and energy" category (indicated by the dashed arrow above), the changes from month to month for March 2010 to September 2010 were 0, 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.1, 0, and 0. Clearly, there was greater variability month to month in the "All items" category than in the "All items less food and energy" category.
The correct answer is Yes.
R02: Infer
Each entry in the table represents a percent change from the previous month. Thus, in the Jul 2010 column of the "Electricity" category (indicated by the dotted arrow above), 0.5 (shown circled) represents a 0.5% change from June to July 2010, not from July to August 2010. The change from July to August 2010 is 0.2%.
