If -4 is a solution for x in the equation \(x^2 + kx + 8 = 0\), what is k?

Place the value of x in the given equation.
\(x^2+kx+8=0\)
\((-4)^2+k(-4)+8=0\)
\(16-4k+8=0\)
\(24-4k=0\)
only a vlaue of 6 make the equation correct.
Answer: 6

−4 is a solution of \(x^2 + kx + 8 = 0\)
=> -4 will satisfy the equation, or we can replace x with -4 in the equation
=> \((-4)^2 + k*(-4) + 8 = 0\)
=> 16 - 4k + 8 = 0
=> 4k = 24
=> k = \(\frac{24}{4}\) = 6
So, Answer will be 6
