(2) q^4 is an odd integer.

How come the answer will be A? For me it should be straight D or I am reading something wrong.

Notice that we are not told that q is an integer.

(1) q is an odd integer --> q^2 is odd. Sufficient.

(2) q^4 is an odd integer --> if  q=odd  then the answer would be YES, but if  q=\sqrt {3}  then the answer would be NO, since  q^2=\sqrt{3}  is not an integer at all. Not sufficient.

Answer: A.

Hi Bunuel,

q^4 is an odd integer --> if q=odd then the answer would be YES, but if q=\sqrt{3} then the answer would be NO, since \sqrt{3} is not an integer at all. Not sufficient.

My Question is if Q is equal to root 3 then Q square will be 3 which is odd. Which makes it sufficient to answer that Q square will be odd.

Please clarify.
