Is x > y?
Is x - y > 0
(1) x - y > 3:
x - y > 3 > 0. Sufficient.
(2) x + y > 3. The sum of two numbers is more than 3. We cannot say from this which one of the numbers is greater. Not sufficient.
Answer: A.

Statement 1 says x-y> 3 i.e positive nbr. This means x should be greater than Y else the result will be negative. So sufficient. For Statement 2 x + y>3 , we will not be able to figure which is greater so not sufficient. So answer A
