To find:
• Whether the value of 4x is less than y
Analysing Statement 1
• As per the information given in Statement 1, 4x + y > 7
- o From this, 4x can be greater or less than y.
• Hence, statement 1 is not sufficient to answer
Analysing Statement 2
• As per the information given in Statement 2, y > 15
- o But this statement does not provide any information about x (or 4x)
Combining Both Statements
• If we combine both the statements, we can say 4x + y > 7 and y > 15
- o We can take the same set of values that we took in statement 1 and say both possibilities exist( 4x > y or 4x < y).
Hence, the correct answer is option E.
