Amir sold a pen and a pencil in his shop. If both pen and pencil are sold at a certain profit, then the profit earned on pen is what percent of the profit earned on pencil?
(1) Cost price of pen and cost price of pencil is in the ratio of 5:1.
(2) The Pen is sold for $3.5 while the pencil is sold for $0.7.

(1) Cost price of pen and cost price of pencil is in the ratio of 5:1.
Insufficient because cost doesn't tell anything about profit.
(2) The Pen is sold for $3.5 while the pencil is sold for $0.7.
Insufficient because Selling price gives no idea about profit.
Combining both 1 & 2 ,
Let CP of pen & pencil be 5x and x respectively.
Profit(pen) = 3.5-5x
profit ( pencil ) = 0.7-x
Now, profit of pen is what percent of profit of pencil ?
(3.5-5x) = what % of (0.7-x)
what %= (3.5-5x)/(0.7-x)
= 500 ( 0.7-x)/(0.7-x)
Hence, 500 %.
Correct solution is C.

1) c.p of pen = 5k and c.p of pencil = k. As we do not know the S.P of of pen and pencil. So insufficient
