I encontered the following basic question and I find hard to agree with, please give thoughts
Answer:
(C); x=1
If I combine the two statement (making it one long staement), don't I get x=-1, 1, 2 and therefore the correct ansert is (E)?

In DS problems, while we combine the two statements , we combine st1 and st2 not st1 or st2.
here say set A={-1,1}------------from st1
set B={1,2}------------from st2
Now combining St1 and st2, we have A and B(=common element)
Or, AnB={1}
Since after combining we get one value of x, hence sufficient.
Ans C
P.S:- In case of value sums, we have to consider the common values from both the statements. The common value must satisfy both the statements.
