What is the value of 1/x + 1/y ?
(1) x + y = 14
(2) xy = 24

Combine:
x+y=14
xy=24
Substituting values
x(14-x)=24
14x-x^2+24
x^2-14x+24==
we get 2 values of x
x=2 or x=12
so, y=12 or y=2 (as x+y=14)
Either way, 1/2 + 1/12 = 7/12
So answer should be C

Further to Shreyaswahney, can we just plug in the numbers with Option C?
The question asks: 1/x+1/y => x+y/xy?
info from 1 and 2= 14/24= 7/12.
