Given:
- • Two numbers – a and b
To find:
- • The ratio of a and b
Analysing Statement 1
As per the information given in statement 1, the ratio of 0.25a to 2b is 2 to 3.
- • 0.25a: 2b = 2: 3
Or, 0.25a/2b = 2/3
Or, a/8b = 2/3
Or, a/b = 16/3
Therefore, a: b = 16: 3
Hence, statement 1 is sufficient to answer the question.
Analysing Statement 2
As per the information given in statement 2, a is two more than four times b.
- • a = 2 + 4b
From this statement, we cannot determine the value of a: b.
Hence, statement 2 is not sufficient to answer the question.
Combining Both Statements
Since we got the answer from statement 1 independently, this step is not required.
Hence, the correct answer is option A.
