(1) \(x > y^2\) --> insuff: case-1: x=0.4 & y=0.3 --> x^2 <y i.e. false, but case-2: x= 9 & y = 2 --> x^2 <y i.e. true
(2) \(x > y\) --> insuff: case-1: x=0.4 & y=0.3 --> x^2 <y i.e. false, but case-2: x= 9 & y = 2 --> x^2 <y i.e. true
Combining (a) & (2):
x > y^2 & x> y --> insuff: case-1: x=0.4 & y=0.3 --> x^2 <y i.e. false, but case-2: x= 9 & y = 2 --> x^2 <y i.e. true
So the answer: E
