—> 3*5 = 15
x= 3 and y= 5. (Only possible combination)
Sufficient
(Statement2): The product of 42 and x is 126.
—> x = 3
But no info about what y is.
—> y could be 4, 5, 6 ....

Given: x and y are integers and 1 < x < y
Target question: What is the value of y ?
Statement 1: xy = 15
The key here is that x and y are integers
If the product of x and y is 15, there are only two possible pairs of values: 1 & 15 and 3 & 15
When we consider the fact that x and y are both greater than 1 (given: 1 < x < y), we can eliminate the possibility that the numbers are 1 & 15
Also, since x < y, we can see that it MUST be the case that x = 3 and y = 5
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, statement 1 is SUFFICIENT
Statement 2: The product of 42 and x is 126
This tells us that x = 3, but we still don't have any information that will help us find the value of y
Since we can’t answer the target question with certainty, statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT
Answer: A
