we get x= 5/4 and -1/4

It's a quad eq with 2 solutions - one of them is negative - Sufficient
Statement 2
this means |4x+3| - 5 >0
|4x+3| > 5
this means x is 5/4 points away from 3/4. On number line it would be X< 2.75 and X>1.25
Multiple values in negative range - Insufficient.
Correct answer - A.
