What is the greatest possible value of x?
(1) x is an integer.
(2) 3<x<5.

sushi600. I am writing because the given OA, (B), is incorrect. Statement (2)
on its own does not allow us to assume that
x is an integer, so
x could be an infinite number of values, all of which could get its value closer and closer to 5. We could, for instance, make it 4.999, 4.9999, or 4.99999, and so on, adding another 9 as many times as we would like. Nothing in the statement or question stem prohibits such an approach. It is not until we combine Statement (1) and Statement (2) that we can determine that x = 4, and that this value is the greatest value
x can be.
Please either correct the phrasing of the question or change the OA accordingly. Otherwise, it will be tagged "Poor Quality" and relegated to the fringes of the site. Thank you.
