I just tried to solve this questions without taking any values. please correct if anything is missing
1) a < x and b < y a,x,b,y can be either positive or negative. many combinations are possible- no specific answer
or you can rearrange : a/x<1 , b/y<1 - they can be positive or negative or equal - no specific answer
2) ax < by
this can be written as a/b <x/y
we are given a/b<1 and x/y<1
a/b and x/y can take any value less than 1. no specific answer
combining the two statements:
we dont get a definite yes or no either.
IMO E
