How many integers n are there such that \(a < n < b\) ?
(1) \(a\) and \(b\) are positive.
Insufficient
\(a\) and \(b\) can be any numbers. So the number of integers \(n\) can be infinite.
(2) \(b < 1\)
Insufficient
We don't know anything about \(a\). \(a\) can be \(0\) or any negative number.
using both the statements 1 and 2
We know that \(0<a\), \(0<b<1\), and combining the two inequalities we get \(0<a<n<b<1\). so n cannot be an integer. therefore \(n=0\).
So the answer is Option C
