Solution:
Pre-Analysis:
- x is a prime number
- We are asked if x = 7 or not
- This is a Yes-No question
Statement 1: 343 is a multiple of x
- We know \(343=7^3=7\times 7\times 7\)
- This means 343 is a multiple of 1, 7, 49, and 343 itself
- Out of these only 7 is prime. This means the value of x = 7
- Thus, statement 1 alone is sufficient and we can eliminate options B, C and E
Statement 2: 350 is a multiple of x
- We know \(350=2\times 5^2\times 7\)
- This means 350 is a multiple of 1, 2, 5, 7, 25, 350 and others
- Out of these 2, 5 and 7 are prime. This means the value of x can be 2, 5 or 7
- Thus, statement 2 alone is not sufficient
Hence the right answer is Option A
