Given: \(w + z = 36\)
To determine: \(\frac{z}{w}\)
(1) \(wz = 180\)
Given that \(w + z = 36\)
\(wz = 180\)
Substituting \(z = 36 - w\) from the first equation into the second
\(w(36 - w) = 180\)
\(36w - w^2 = 180\)
\(w^2 - 36w + 180 = 0\)
\((w - 30)(w - 6) = 0\)
\(w = 6/30\)
If \(w = 6; z = 30; \frac{z}{w} = 5\)
If \(w = 30; z = 6; \frac{z}{w} = \frac{1}{5}\)
NOT SUFFICIENT
(2) w and z are both multiples of 6.
Given that \(w + z = 36\)
Could be multiple options, let us test a few out
If \(w = 6; z = 30; \frac{z}{w} = 5\)
If \(w = 30; z = 6; \frac{z}{w} = \frac{1}{5}\)
NOT SUFFICIENT
(1) + (2) Combined
