On simplifying the above equation we get
X + 2Y + 1=0
From Statement 1
Y^2 = 4
Y = 2 or - 2
X = -2*2 - 1 or -2*-2 -1
So X = -5 or 3 . No unique value of X so not sufficient.
From Statement 2
Y = 2, and X+2Y+1=0, we get
X = -2*2 - 1 = -5
Unique value of X, so sufficient.
Choice B
