Pre Analysis:
- It is given that \(LCM(a, b)=36=2^2\times 3^2\)
- We are asked the values of a and b
Statement 1: a is even and a prime factor of b
- According to this statement, a is even and prime which means the only possible value of \(a=2\)
- And since \(LCM(a, b)=36=2^2\times 3^2\), the only possible value of \(b=36\)
- Thus, statement 1 alone is sufficient and we can eliminate options B, C and E
Statement 2: GCD of a and b is 2
- According to this statement, \(a=4,b=18\) and \(a=2,b=36\)
- we do not get exact values of a and b
